Come see Nostalgia presented on stunning 35mm film on the big screen in L3!

Part autobiography, part dream and part meditation, Nostalgia delivers a beautifully reflective exploration of homesickness and identity. Accompanied by his enigmatic interpreter, Russian writer Andrei Gorchakov wanders the Tuscan countryside, researching the life of an 18th-century Russian composer. However, stricken with homesickness and a growing feeling of detachment, he befriends a local outsider, whose own obsessions may help Gorchakov find his way through his mental stupor. Also exploring themes such as the untranslatability of art and culture, and featuring Tarkovsky’s signature long takes, dream-sequences and minimal story, Nostalgia is the perfect film to let wash over you and absorb. Personally, I love the slow and thoughtful build up towards the (literal) crescendo of the final few scenes, which have stayed with me for a while now. Even more exciting for being a 35mm showing, you are guaranteed to be moved. [Karl Swensson]
