The Peanut Butter Falcon is a heartwarming and uplifting adventure film directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz. The film follows Zak, a young man with Down syndrome who escapes from a care home to pursue his dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Along the way, he meets Tyler, a fisherman on the run, and the two develop an unlikely but meaningful friendship. Dakota Johnson’s character, Eleanor, also joins their journey, creating a strong sense of friendship and community. The film explores important themes such as independence, friendship and acceptance, while challenging society’s assumptions about people with disabilities. Zack Gottsagen’s performance as Zak is particularly inspiring, bringing humour, determination and warmth to the character. The beautiful coastal setting and adventurous storyline make the film both entertaining and visually engaging. Overall, The Peanut Butter Falcon is a touching film that celebrates friendship, freedom and the importance of following your dreams. [Nell Carter]
