Hello, my name is Sihaam Hassan, and I'm running for Widening Participation Officer because widening participation (WP) was a key factor in my decision to join Warwick. I want to ensure that all WP students feel supported and included during their time here.

I have spent the last two years tutoring students from diverse backgrounds, which has strengthened my active listening, communication, and leadership skills. Ibelieve these skills are essential for representing and advocating for WP students. My experience has also given me a strong understanding of the challenges WP students face, and I am committed to making Warwick a more inclusive and supportive place.

My Goals if Elected:

1. Help address the challenges WP students face.

• Tackle financial barriers, lack of academic support, and imposter syndrome.

2. Help increase representation and inclusion.

• Ensure WP students have a greater voice in university decision-making.
• Improve policies and create more spaces for students to share their concerns and unique experiences.

3. Prepare WP students for life after Warwick

• Organize workshops and talks to improve understanding of career opportunities.
• Increase access to internships and work experience in students chosen fields.
