Manifesto for Women’s Officer – Ginevra Zeng
Introduction
Hi, my name is Ginevra Zeng, and I am running for the position of Women’s Officer because I am passionate about amplifying women’s voices, advocating for their rights, and creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment at Warwick. As Women’s Officer, I will work to ensure that every self-defining woman feels heard, supported, and celebrated.
My Experience and Skills
I have experience in student leadership, advocacy, and event planning, having served as Course Rep, Society Exec, and University Ambassador. Through these roles, I have developed strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, allowing me to effectively represent students and push for meaningful change. My ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds ensures that I will listen, engage, and act on the needs of all self-defining women at Warwick.
What My Goals Are
If elected, I will work towards the following:
1. Launch the Warwick Women’s Blog
๐ข Create a platform to amplify women’s voices through student stories, career insights, well-being advice, and discussions on issues that matter to us.
๐๏ธ Feature guest writers, student spotlights, and interactive Q&A sessions to foster a supportive and engaged community.
๐ Provide practical resources on safety, career guidance, and mental health.
2. Strengthen Campus Safety for Women
๐ Improve campus lighting and increase security measures in key areas.
๐จ Make harassment reporting systems more accessible, transparent, and survivor-centred.
๐ก๏ธ Organise self-defence workshops and bystander intervention training to empower students.
3. Expand Career & Mentorship Opportunities
๐ฉ๐ผ Host a Women in Leadership & Finance Networking Series, connecting students with successful female professionals and alumni.
๐ Advocate for more scholarships and funding opportunities for women in underrepresented fields.
4. Campaign Against Everyday Sexism and Improve Inclusivity
๐ซ Raise awareness about gender discrimination and microaggressions through campaigns and workshops.
๐ฉธ Ensure free period products are widely available in key campus locations.
๐ Advocate for intersectional feminism, ensuring representation for LGBTQ+ women, women of colour, and disabled women.
