KPMG Press Portfolio Competition

The KPMG Press Porfolio competition awards cash prizes to the societies that best publicise Societies Federation and KPMG.

Aims

  • To make extra funding available to societies
  • To raise awareness of the Societies Federation and KPMG
  • To generate media coverage and raise awareness of society activity

Benefits for your society

  • Increased media coverage will raise the profile of your society within the university and the wider community, hopefully attracting potential investors
  • There are prizes on offer that will contribute towards your society activity

Prize Structure

Cash prizes will be presented to those clubs deemed the most successful in promoting the Societies Federation and KPMG to students. The prize money is to be used to improve and further the activities of your society.

Prizes will be awarded simply on the number of points amassed by the end of the second termr, but one of the cash awards will be reserved for a society that the panel feel have made an extra-special effort given limited means.

The prize structure is as follows:

1st Place£500
2nd Place£300
3rd Place£100
Special Award£100

Awarding of Prizes

Your portfolio of evidence should be submitted to the Societies Officer via email (ssdo@sunion.warwick.ac.uk) or handing it into the Resources Room. The deadline is Friday 20th June 2008 (Week 9).

The prizes will be announced in an email to all societies at the end of term. The prizes will then be paid straight into the current account of the society.

Competition and Judging

The Portfolios will be judged by a panel including The Societies and Student Development Officer, a representative from KPMG and members of the Societies Federation Committee.

Entries into the Press Portfolio competition are judged in a number of areas. Points are awarded to entries as outlined below. The winning entry in the competition is simply the highest-scoring entry. The points totals are set at a maximum in many media categories in order to give the panel discretion over how many points should be awarded.

Any other exposure of the Societies Federation and KPMG logos that does not fall under the categories listed will go to the panel for deliberation and the awarding of points. These might include such things as publicity stunts, exposure of the logos during championship events etc. The more imaginative the better!

Large Society vs Small Society

Obviously it needs to be taken into account that some socieities due to their size and means will be better equipped to enter into a press portfolio competition. When judging the competition and in the awarding of points, the panel will look favourably on clubs who have used initiative rather than simply expense. Also the awarding of the special prize reflects that large or small it really is worth your society getting involved!

KPMG Banners

There are a number of KPMG banners which can be loaned to societies for any concerts, gigs, or events involving media exposure.
