This Thursday, 8th June, Britain goes to the polls in the 2017 General Election. In the past, turnout among 18-24 year olds has been so low that it has proven all too easy for pundits, pollsters and politicians to write off or ignore the youth vote.
However, this time around, things are very different. Over 2 million voters recently joined the electoral register, with the majority being 18-24 year olds. Make no mistake, it is YOUR vote that could help decide the course of this election. What sort of a country do you want to live, work or study in? What are your hopes for the future? What kind of a deal do you want for students?
Our greatest chance of enacting change is to make sure we show up on polling day. For voting information and local candidate interviews, check out The Boar’s guide linked below. If you are a student from overseas who lives in Coventry and recently registered to vote, please make sure you also see our updated voter information article to confirm you are on the electoral register ahead of Thursday’s vote.
Students have a voice – let’s get out there and use it!

We have been informed that several students have been contacted by Coventry City Council informing them that they are not registered to vote. As we understand it, this is an administrative error and is NOT the case! Click through for more info if you received this message or are an overseas student who registered recently.
