You won’t be able to miss the OFFICER ELECTIONS on campus this week, which mark the student body’s chance to vote for the people who’ll be in charge of your Students’ Union during the coming academic year.

If you’ve ever thought any aspect of University, SU or Postgraduate life could be improved, it’s really important that you take a few minutes to read the candidates’ manifestos and cast your vote online. Sabbatical and Part-Time Officers head up different areas of the SU’s operations and sit on key University committees. They have been responsible for some of the major wins we’ve achieved for students over the last few years, as well as spearheading campaigns for a 24-Hour Library, longer opening hours at the PG Hub, the opening of The Graduate and much more.

There’ll be a chance to quiz the candidates in the SU Atrium from 5pm on Monday and Tuesday. Voting then opens online at 9am Wednesday, and closes at 9pm Friday. Don’t let decisions be made on your behalf!

What are the Officer Elections, and why are they important? We’ve answered a few of your FAQs over at our Democracy mini-site.

Find out who’s in the running and read the manifestos of each of this week’s candidates online.

Come along to the Atrium at 5pm today and tomorrow to quiz the candidates about their manifestos – see the Elections homepage for details of which positions will be taking questions on each day, or submit your question anonymously at the link above.

This will be the last week we’re collecting signatures condemning the University’s decision to award outgoing Vice-Chancellor Nigel Thrift a £92,000 ‘golden farewell’ – please take a few moments to sign our petition if you haven’t done so already!
