Happy New Year, and welcome to Term 2! There's loads going on at the SU over the coming months - here are just a few highlights...

One World Week is a celebration of the University's vibrant international community, taking place during Week 4 - expect massive events, continental food sampling, incredible society performances and much more besides!

Bandsoc's annual showcase of Warwick-based musical talent, Battle of the Bands, also starts on Tuesday Week 4 and runs right through until the end of term - make sure you come along to the heats and find out who'll be in the running for this year's title.

For those who like a tipple or two, don't miss the Real Ale Festival later in the term, which is one of the biggest student-run events of its type anywhere in the country and will offer up hundreds of ales, ciders and perries for your delectation!

You'll also get the chance to have your say on the future of your Union in the Help Us Help You survey (Week 5) and Officer Elections (Week 8).

All this, plus the return of Varsity, in which our esteemed sportsfolk start dishing out their customary thrashing of our arch-rivals at Cov Uni! As always, make sure you keep checking the SU website, Facebook page and Twitter feed for all the latest updates. Have a great term!

Circuit Laundry, the company which manages the Rootes Laundrette, have now moved to a cashless payment system. Cards and credit are available from their top-up machine, which is located in the SU next to The Bread Oven.

Tickets for Term 2 events are now on sale via the SU website, including newly-announced shows from Sigma and Professor Green!

SU President Cat Turhan has written a blog post on the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) results and what they mean for students here at Warwick.

For those who’ve been enquiring, the first mobile GUM Clinic of 2015 will be held on Tuesday 20th January in SUHQ.

If you missed our Housing Day at the end of last term, don’t worry – there are loads of useful house-hunting tips available online via the SU Advice Centre’s webpages.

The application deadline for the Lord Rootes Memorial Fund, which provides subsidies for exciting student-led projects, is this Thursday (8th January) – visit the University’s website for further details.
