If you're funding your studies with a part-time job (including teaching at the University), are paid hourly (rather than salaried) and have no annual leave allowance, you are entitled to holiday pay on top of your hourly rate. If this holiday pay has not been included in your wage payments, you are entitled to claim this money back from your employer. If you have not received holiday pay, you may be entitled to back-dated payments.

If you are a postgraduate student employed by the University as part-time teaching staff and you feel that you have not received holiday pay for your work (either this academic year or last), you will need to contact your Departmental Administrator. If you register with the scheme, they will do their best to match you with a suitable PhD mentor who, as well as helping to identify sources of funding, can help you to learn more about PhDs and the application process, planning your application and managing your time, locating further resources to support your application and understanding how to successfully meet challenges.
