Term 1 has now finished, so this is a shorter version of the weekly email for those of you who may still be around over the Christmas Vacation and would like to know more about what’s happening on campus! Read on for more information about our opening times for the coming weeks, plus details of the various Christmas activities taking place.

It’s been a busy first term here at the Students’ Union - here are a few of the areas we’ve been working on to improve student life for postgrads at Warwick:

• We helped over 100 postgrads living in hotels find houses at the start of term, and have secured 200 extra rooms on campus for postgrads next year;
• 60% more postgrads got involved with societies this term and we have over 60 postgrads on society execs, including 14 presidents;
• We had a 100% increase in PG nominations for Student Council;
• We helped gain access to the PG Hub for Medical Students;
• We helped reduce car parking charges for PG tutors.

There is, however, obviously much more to be done! Next term, we’ll be:

• Trying to secure more flexible contracts with Warwick Accommodation for postgrads taking placements as part of their degree;
• Making sure that every postgrad has a personal tutor;
• Working hard to improve conditions for postgrads who teach;
• Working on the plans for a dedicated PG social space in the Union.

Christmas Vacation Opening Hours

Most of our outlets will still be open in the run-up to the SU’s Christmas closedown on 20th December – visit the SU website for full details of what’s open and when. We look forward to seeing you around if you’re feeling peckish on campus! Please note that the entire Union will be closed this Friday (13th December) for staff training – apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Xmas Vacation Facebook Group

If you’re still around over the coming month and are looking for company or something to do, we’ve set up a Facebook group where you can meet people who might be in the same boat and find out more about the various different events that the University have planned over Christmas. Find it HERE

Student Services move

Student Reception, Student Finance & Funding and the Graduate School will soon be moving from their current locations in University House to the ground floor of Senate House on central campus. The teams will be moving in early December 2013 with a view to be fully operational from the beginning of Term 2!
