As we reach the final week of term, the big news for PG students who teach will obviously be the upcoming strike action on Tuesday – please take a moment to read the SU and your PG Officer’s respective statements on the strike below to make sure you’re kept in the loop.

Elsewhere, we’ll be getting into the festive spirit here at the SU with our various seasonal events and offers, as detailed below – come and join us for a hot beverage or festive meal in one of our outlets! We’ll be posting our opening times for the vacation soon on the SU website, so make sure you keep checking back for details of these if you’re still about over the holidays. Keep your eyes peeled too for details of another RExFest event for Postgrads coming soon!

The SU has published its statement on the upcoming strike action this Tuesday, which is available to view online. Furthermore, Postgraduate Officer Lucy Gill has also written a blog post in solidarity with those staff-members taking to the picket-lines – you can read this here.

We are pleased to announce that, following direct pressure exerted by the SU during the housing crisis at the start of the year, the University and Warwick Accommodation will be making an extra 200 rooms available on campus next year specifically for Postgrad students. Thanks to everyone who took the time to contact us with their experiences regarding this – hopefully with sustained pressure, we can help prevent a similar situation from arising again!

PG Officer Lucy Gill will be publishing a new blog with the latest developments on this issue in the coming days – keep checking back for updates!

Come and join us in a veritable Winter Wonderland this Thursday as we bring you an Ice Rink in the Atrium, spectacular seasonal décor, a live party band playing all your favourite hits, real reindeer out on the Piazza and much more. We’ll even guarantee the one thing the Met Office can’t: snow!

Tickets cost £16 and are going fast – don’t leave it too late to get yours from warwicksu.com!

Warwick Anti-Sexism Society (WASS) are currently running a survey relating to the safety of student spaces on campus. The survey is anonymous and all input from students at Warwick is welcome – complete it online to submit your views!

A website by the name of Ratemash has been uploading photos from students' Facebook profiles without their consent and exhibiting them for users to rate their "hotness", categorised by University. Cat Turhan has written a blog post on this issue – please take a moment to read it if you think you might be affected by this and would like your pictures to be removed.

Our Table d’Hôte Christmas Menu starts this Monday and runs until 19th December, offering a succulent array of festive specials to get you in the Christmas spirit! Demand is always very high during the last week of term, so make sure you book in advance if you want to guarantee a table for your party.

Our menu of Christmas Specials will still be running this week - from foaming hot winter beverages to cockle-warming treats, we’ve got just what you need to beat those winter blues!

Have you tried one of our fabulous CHRISTMAS BAGUETTES yet? If not, you’re missing out! Our specials, running until the end of Week 10, are either Roast Turkey with Sage & Onion Stuffing and Cranberry Sauce for £3.75, or Roast Sweet Potato with Goats Cheese and Cranberry sauce for £3.45.

If you are actively considering applying for PhD funding and don’t know where to start, the PhD Funding Mentorship Scheme can help. If you register with the scheme, they will do their best to match you with a suitable PhD mentor who, as well as helping to identify sources of funding, can help you to learn more about PhDs and the application process, planning your application and managing your time, locating further resources to support your application and understanding how to successfully meet challenges.

Find out more by emailing pghub@warwick.ac.uk, or visit their website.

Don’t forget that SU Postgraduate Officer Lucy Gill will be available to talk to in the PG Hub this Friday from 1:30pm- 4pm – come along if you think there’s anything she can help you out with!

Give the gift of nudity this Christmas. Warwick Sport’s annual charity Naked Calendar is back and now on sale! At just £5 each, these calendars are an absolute bargain - once purchased, they can be collected from SUHQ reception with your student card. Limited numbers are available, and they always sell out.
