Are you a Postgraduate student who teaches? If so, then we want to hear from YOU! The NUS is working with students' unions across the country and the UCU to launch a nationwide survey of postgraduate teachers. The survey covers a number of contentious areas, such as: pay, contracts, application process, workload, training, and feedback.

We know that there is wide disparity in the treatment of postgraduate students who teach at their universities. What we don't have is comprehensive national data on the issue. The lack of data for national comparisons has prevented the spread of good practice and the public acknowledgement of unfair treatment.

This survey is a real chance to make a difference and it allows us to lobby the University here at Warwick for better conditions!

Head to surveymonkey.com/s/NUSPGteach to complete the survey!

Warwick students will be joining thousands of students from across the UK on Wednesday 21st at the NUS National Demonstration: Educate, Employ, Empower. If you haven’t bought your ticket yet, please go to warwicksu.com/future and buy one now for a very reasonable £7! There are lots of students going, so please buy as soon as you can before they sell out. There will be banner making tomorrow in the SU Atrium between 12-5pm so come join us for that, and even if you aren’t joining us on Wednesday, please tweet your support to #WeAreWarwick or #demo2012.

Following the success of the first event last year, we are pleased to announce the first of three Education Conventions happening this academic year. The first event will take place on Wednesday 28th November in Maths and Stats Building from 3pm-6pm.

This is your opportunity to discuss your issues and ideas with your Students’ Union Sabbatical Officers, Faculty Representatives, senior University staff members including those from within the central University structure and across the different services and with other students both within and outside of your faculty. There will also be sessions on SSLC best practice, Union campaigns for this year and the brand new SSLC portal.

All welcome, but SSLC reps should attend, particularly chairs and secretaries. Each course should ensure that they have at least one rep there to represent them and they should feed back to the SSLC afterwards. A light buffet will be provided.

Please let us know if you are coming by signing up online at warwicksu.com/sslc or emailing samantha.sandilands@warwicksu.com.

Next term, Warwick HE Summit will be coming to campus. The event aims to explore and discuss major issues affecting the higher education sector, both in the UK and globally. It is one of the few student-run higher education summits in the country and a fantastic opportunity to listen and challenge policy makers.

As part of this year’s summit, student leaders from across the world will be formulating a policy proposal on Universities in 2030, towards a G8 Universities Summit, which will ultimately be presented to world leaders. This is a fantastic opportunity for any student, and we’d like you to get involved.

If you would like to apply to one of the following positions: Deputy Coordinator, Marketing Officer, Logistics and Finance Officer, Talks Coordinator, Deputy Talks Coordinator, Fringes Coordinator or G8 Seminar Coordinator, then please send a CV and Covering Letter to education@warwicksu.com by 12pm on the 30th November. If you have any question please also send to the same address.

Want Warwick SU to win an Ice Cream Party for 250 people? Care about Cows?

Cows around Europe are not happy cows with standards of welfare varying across the EU. There are widespread health problems, frequent injuries and a lack of access to pastures where they could roam freely.

The SU with the most shares wins a party for 250 people so sign the petition and share it on Facebook now.

On Tuesday of Week 9 we are running our House Nouse: Housing Day in the Atrium from 10am-4pm. Don't feel like you need to rush into getting your house. Come and see us, or get in touch with us at advice@warwicksu.com.
