Hi all,

We hope you’re having a great term so far – don’t forget that if you’re having any problems settling back in or adjusting to life off-campus, just speak to one of your elected Sabbatical Officers or visit our free and confidential Student Advice Centre on the top floor of SUHQ. In the meantime, read on for all the latest news and details of what’s coming up at the SU this week!

Last year, the SU ran a campaign called Hungry For Feedback which aimed to improve the University’s record on the quality of academic feedback they provide on assessed work. The initial agreement presented to us by the University was deemed unacceptable, and as the academic representatives of your SU, we refused to sign it in its original form. We are therefore delighted to announce that the University has now set a 4-week maximum timeframe on assessment feedback. To read the joint letter signed by the Vice Chancellor Nigel Thrift and SU President Nick Swain, visit Warwick Insite.

The results are in - thanks to those who stood and all those who voted! Check out the results online and see who is representing your year group. Don't forget to get in contact with them if you have an issue you want addressed at Council.

This week we are giving you the chance to win £50 of shopping vouchers, simply for meeting your neighbours! All the details are online - we look forward to seeing your photos!

And, as if that wasn’t enough, you still have one more week to try the Crime Quiz and get in the draw for an iPad!

We are launching a new support group for any students who are Carers. We will have Warwickshire Young Carers coming into SUHQ, so drop by anytime from 11-1 and come have a chat! If you are unsure about the service or whether you are a Carer, please contact welfare@warwicksu.com.

This week there will be a free and confidential GUM Clinic to check for STIs on Tuesday 23rd in Copper Rooms 2 from 12-6. No appointment is necessary - for more information, please email welfare@warwicksu.com.

If you do anything this week, make sure you check out the events which made the SocsFed Top 5!

Interested in getting involved in education-based campaigns? Warwick Higher Education Network (WHEN) is a social event to bring together all types of campaigners in education at Warwick. Whether you occupy or sit on SSLCs, this is your chance to come together and share, discuss and find support for issues both national and Warwick-based - if your thing is feedback or fees, please join us in The Terrace Bar, Tuesday 30th at 6pm.

For all those who entered books into the Book Sale but did not manage to collect your proceeds or unsold books on the Returns Day, we are giving you a final opportunity to do so this Wednesday. It will be held from 10am-4.30pm and will be in the Mighty Duck (Students’ Union pub). Please ensure you bring your Book Sale Sellers Form and your Student ID.

After meeting with the Sabbatical Team, the University’s Estates Office has created a new Shuttle Bus Service to the student post room at Westwood. This is in response to concerns raised by students about the location relative to some halls of residence. The new Shuttle Bus operates a 30 minute circuit of the campus, starting from Library Road at 10:15am with the last departure at 5.15pm from Monday to Friday. More information and a map of the bus route are available online.

Do you love Warwick? Even if you’ve only been here a couple of weeks, you’ll know already if you do! Could you help recruit the next generation of Warwick students? Apply to join the Warwick Welcome Service and become a Student Ambassador AND GET PAID £8.30/hour! To apply and for more information, visit go.warwick.ac.uk/wws.

Are you interested in working with young people and can you share your enthusiasm for university and the benefits of higher education with young people who may be unsure about applying? If yes, then being a Student Progression Ambassador could be for you! Visit Warwick Insite for more details.
