Welcome to Warwick! You're in for what will hopefully be the best 3-4 years of your life here at University, and it's our job at the Students' Union to make sure that you get the most out of your time here. We are a non-profit organisation run by students, for students – all the money we generate through commercial activity in our bars, food outlets and nightclub is directly reinvested back into services for you: clubs & societies, advice & welfare facilities, academic representation and much more.

There's loads of stuff going on over the first few weeks of term, but here are just a few key ways for you to get involved:

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of Warwick Students and gain some valuable new skills along the way? Do you want to be involved in the decision-making process of the Students' Union? If so, running to be a Councillor is for you! Student Council renews, reviews and amends policy, as well as setting the agenda for what policy will be debated at All-Student Meetings. This is your chance to have your say, make an impact and have something concrete to put on your CV to show for it. Elections are in Week 3 and nominations are open now! Go to warwicksu.com/elections for more info and to nominate yourself.

Our 230 different societies are all gearing up for the Societies Fair, happening in Week 1! Come down to The Copper Rooms from 10am – 4pm on Wednesday to check out our media, gaming, performance and music societies, Thursday for all charity, campaigning and academic societies as well as our own Democracy team, and Friday for our cultural and religious or belief societies!

Missed today's Sports Fair? It's not too late to join a club! Look online for more information on our 73 Sports Clubs and variety of leagues, classes and courses. All taster sessions and trials are completely free for Freshers Week and there will also be demonstrations throughout the day, so make sure you take a break between induction lectures and swing by! Also, if you are also interested in running for one of the amazing positions on the Sports Committee, you can apply now.

Want to represent your course? Want to talk about education to top academics? Then think about standing as an academic rep in your Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC). There will be elections in one of your lectures or online, so keep an eye out, and get involved!

The Students’ Union has a free and confidential Advice Centre available for all students. If you have a problem with housing, personal health, your course, money or anything else, please do get in touch via welfare@warwicksu.com or advice@warwicksu.com. We are also holding our first Campaigns Convention this term, so come along on Saturday Week 2 in Copper Rooms 2 between 1-4pm if you want to get involved in campaigning here this year!
