While you are busy relaxing (or working!) during the vacation period, last week saw the end of one period of office and the start of another for the Sabbatical Officers that you have elected to represent you. From last Wednesday, the old Officers are out and the new are in, so we thought we'd take the opportunity to let you know what we'll be getting up to over the next few months.

You can also take a look at blog posts from George, Chris L, Izzy and Matt who have written about their year in office.

Hello from…

Nick Swain
President

I'm Nick and I am extremely honoured to be the new President of Warwick SU.

I am here to represent all of you and your views to the University and wider community. It is my goal to make your time at university as good as it can be, making Warwick SU and all it has to offer a key part of life at Warwick. This year I hope to get more people involved with the SU than ever before, working with the new team of Sabbs and staff to run the best campaigns, best nights out and best sports clubs and societies of any Students' Union.

I love Warwick, the Union and the whole student experience. If there is anything I can do for you, just ask. Feel free to come by my office in SUHQ or just contact me by email, Facebook or Twitter!

James Entwistle
Education Officer

Hello! My name is James your Education Officer this coming year. My main priority is to encourage debates, discussions and activism on the issues in higher education across our campus. Warwick is more than the course you study, and I hope to see you getting involved this coming year.

I am looking forward to a very busy year of campaigning, from the issues of feedback and contact hours to the NUS National Demonstration in November. I also hope to see many of you getting involved in your Student Staff Liaison Committees (SSLCs), our annual STARs of Warwick Teaching Awards and events and talks like the Education Convention.

I'm also still here for all your academic concerns, so feel free to pop in for a chat, or you can ring or email me.

Cosmo March
Democracy and Development Officer

Hi, I'm Cosmo, and I'll be your Democracy and Development Officer for next year. Last year Chris Luck invested a lot of time into making the Democracy Review the best it can be. I am committed to working hard over the summer to ensure the implementations of the review are a huge success. One of my priorities will be ensuring that the accountability system runs smoothly, meaning you will have even more influence in how your Union is run and what your elected officers are getting up to.

For the development side of things, the union is undergoing some significant improvements over the summer. I want to ensure that the effects of these changes reach their full potential and make it Warwick SU's best year yet. So if you have ideas for your union, no matter how big or small, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Slkie Cragg
Societies Officer

Hi all, I'm Silkie and was lucky enough to be elected as your Societies Officer this year. I'm working on securing better storage and rehearsal space for societies in the moment and will be working hard throughout the summer to ensure that you have the best facilities we can provide by the time you get back in October!

In addition to these more operations projects I'm also working on developing some exciting training and development schemes for society execs and members, and am putting plans together for a bigger, better societies fair in week one – held over three days for the first time this year!
