Hi folks,

First off, hope all of you freshers had a cracking first week at Warwick – judging by the state of the copper rooms after the paint party you guys know how to tear it up! There’s a whole lot more events for you to sink your teeth into this week so don’t forget to buy your tickets!

Monday (today) is World Mental Health Day and folks from the Coventry branch of MIND as well as the university’s support services were on the piazza with loads of mental health resources – check out their websites for more information. Also check out the fantastic workshops offered by the university counselling service which start this week and are very useful if you’re struggling a little or a lot with settling in to university life.

The student experience fair is also tonight in the atrium 5-8 and it’s a fantastic chance to kickstart the next three years. Applications for Inspire, our brilliant schools outreach program in conjunction with Teach First, are also open today – so get applying online at warwicksu.com/inspire and make a difference for local young people.

That’s all folks! Have a smashing week and as always please feel free to drop into the union for a chat if you have any questions, concerns or just want to say hi!

Izzy, Welfare officer, Warwick SU

A big thank you to everyone who voted in the 'democracy in action' poll at democracy fair on Tuesday – the chicken fajita baguette was the clear winner in the vote to decide on a new Bread Oven sandwich filling, so expect to see it in there soon! If you're interested in getting more involved in union democracy (which you totally should be), please go to warwicksu.com/elections to nominate yourself for a position on union council.
