Come see Jurassic Park presented on 35mm film on the big screen in L3!

Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park was a 90’s hit which birthed one of the biggest and most notable franchises today. Dinosaurs gracing the big screen for the first time was a must-see experience back in ’93, and I’d argue it’s just as magical over 30 years later. The story begins with Jurassic era experts Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) being invited to the titular Jurassic Park. Upon arrival, they are shown the science behind the cloning, which takes dinosaur DNA from mosquito blood fossilised in amber (which I still find just as ingenious as I did when I was 10). Things soon turn sour when the big bad T-Rex escapes and poses a fatal threat to our main characters and the rest of the dinosaurs on the island (at least they’re conveniently contained away from the mainland… for now). One of Jeff Goldblum’s sexiest performances, Jurassic Park is a classic despite the dinosaurs only being on screen for 15 minutes — with the animatronics bringing a nostalgic flash from the past before VFX took over live action sci-fi’s. Just like our showing of Suspiria last term, we are showing Jurassic Park in a special 35mm sound format that hardly anywhere else is equipped for! Jurassic Park was the first film with DTS digital sound and we have for you lucky lot the last DTS print available in the UK. [Holly Beaumont]
