Memento starts at the end and ends at the start. If you attend writing classes where teachers keep going on about a beginning, middle and end, introduce them to this structurally subversive film. Leonard Shelby, played by a charismatic Guy Pearce, is afflicted with amnesia as he seeks vengeance for his wife’s murder. However, due to his amnesia which inhibits his abilities to form new memories, he finds himself back to square one just as he makes a breakthrough.

From the moment this film starts, you’ll find yourself trying to connect the puzzle pieces. Christopher Nolan presents an entirely immersive film to the point where even the most distracted and restless cinemagoers won’t notice or question the run-time.
