Keira Knightley and James McAvoy star as lovers, Cecilia and Robbie, in this emotional, hard-hitting WWII film. Whether you like history, romance, or suspense, Atonement offers anything you could want in a film with stunning visuals and a perfect cast to cement it as a classic. The transition from the humid summer and jovial tone at the beginning of the film to the bleak, grey reality of the soldier's experience hits in a gradual realisation throughout the movie. This film had me contemplating how a lie told out of sororal jealousy can escalate so extremely and hold so much value.
