Historical drama Small Things Like These follows Bill Furlong (Cillian Murphy), a coal merchant and father of five, in 1980's Ireland. Set around Christmas, Furlong bears witness to the evils inside the Magdalen Asylum and is reminded of his own troublesome past. It’s important to note that this film is dedicated to the victims of the infamous Irish Magdalene Laundries which only ended in the late 20th century. This touching story is a moving and an emotional watching experience for anyone, and sheds light on a past which should be remembered. [Holly Beaumont]
