Bird is an evocative coming-of-age film that blends mystery and family drama into a unique narrative. The story centres on Bailey (Nykiya Adams), a 12-year-old girl grappling with her fractured family life and the looming wedding of her father, Bug. Bailey encounters a strange man named Bird (Barry Keoghan) and her world is turned upside down. As the two form an unlikely bond, Bailey helps Bird search for answers about his missing mother. Adams and Keoghan deliver compelling performances, with Adams particularly shining in her portrayal of a young girl caught between innocence and the harsh realities of her environment. The film’s eerie atmosphere, combined with its emotional depth, creates a powerful, thought-provoking experience. Bird is truly a captivating and memorable film. [Holly Beaumont]
