Ultimate responsibility for making sure the Students’ Union is run effectively, complies with the law, has a strong strategic plan, and is financially secure lies with our Board of Trustees.
They delegate authority to the SU Chief Executive and the staff team to manage the day-to-day operations, and deliver against the strategic plan.
SU staff teams, guided by the elected Student Officers, deliver representation, social activities and support to our student members via a variety of services. Students are able to suggest changes to improve aspects of these services by contacting Officers or staff to discuss their ideas.
If students want the SU to adopt a new policy, they can do this by submitting a motion to Student Council. Motions may be approved by Council, or they may be put to an All Student Vote. If motions are passed, they need to get ratified by the Board of Trustees, who then expect the SU staff team to deliver the operational aspects.
