Anna Taylor
Vice President for Societies
She/Her
Hi! I’m Anna, and I’ll be your Vice President for Societies for the coming year. My time as an undergraduate has been largely defined by the people I’ve met through societies, and the experiences I’ve had because of them. I want to make sure that socs are as accessible and supported as possible, so that they can continue to offer as many amazing opportunities as possible!
Course:
English and History
Hometown:
Portsmouth
Fun fact about me:
My favourite book series is the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini! (Not the Eragon film, though. The film was trash.)
My role and what I hope to achieve this year:
As your Vice President for Societies, my role is to support and represent the wide range of societies at Warwick. With hundreds of active societies on campus, society activity plays a formative part in many students' time at Warwick. From occasional membership to holding an exec position, this experience will vary from student to student, and as such so will the type of support which societies require.
I will be coordinating with society execs to address any concerns that might arise throughout the year, helping to plan and promote society events, and providing whatever support is necessary to help societies get the most out of their year.
Alongside this, I will also be focusing on:
- Finding ways to increase students' engagement with society activities, working on society social media presence on SU affiliated accounts to provide a centralised way for students to find out what's happening with our socs.
- Providing opportunities to showcase society activity throughout the year, to boost enthusiasm for societies outside of Welcome Week and Term 1.
- Reviewing current exec resources in order to provide more current, relevant, and easy to navigate training resources, aiming to lower the stress of holding an exec position within societies and make handover more seamless.
If you have any questions, concerns, or would just like to chat about what's going on in your society, then please do get in touch!
