Hello everyone! I am Maisha Hassan, your Ethnic Minorities Officer this year.
Course:
I am completing my 3rd year of my undergraduate degree, Economics BSc (Hons).
Hometown:
I was born and brought up in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka.
Fun fact:
I am the first female in my family to have attended university abroad.
Our role and what we hope to achieve from the role:
This year, I get the opportunity to represent Warwick’s Ethnic Minorities community, become their voice and strength, and standing with them against any form of discrimination or injustice. I hope to create an inviting environment for any incoming or current ethnic minorities students by promoting cultural and liberation Welcome Week events and a greater range of events by the SU all year round. I am eager to collaborate with the career department to promote work experience opportunities which support diversity and equality. In addition, carrying out regular awareness campaigns highlighting the issues faced by ethnic minorities and educating faculty members and SU staff to prevent any form of inappropriate discriminatory behavior.
