WHAT HAVE I DONE SO FAR?:
- THE (FREE) BREAKFAST CLUB: I secured over £8k to provide free breakfasts to approx. 350 students twice a week in the Green Room!
- END PERIOD POVERTY: As your Women’s Officer, I provided over 27k of menstrual products on campus, led a brilliant team of 43 volunteers, and made the funding permanent!!
- SAFER WARWICK: I surveyed 1269 students to improve lighting, introduce a bus/taxi service that’ll help you get home safe (especially from Cov!), and Emma & I made Women & Non-Binary Self-Defence Classes permanent!!
MY TOP PRIORITIES:
1. Empower YOUR voice by making our SU processes more transparent and accessible.
2. Make essentials, food, transport, accommodation, sports clubs and societies more affordable.
3. Help make Warwick Safer - with improved lighting, and a permanent welfare stand at POP!
4. Diverse wellbeing support for varied student needs, without barriers, for International, Part-time, and Disabled Students
5. Your Education, Your Choice: self-certifications for all degrees, flexible assessment methods, and earlier exam timetable releases
1. Making our SU more transparent and accessible

Publicise All Student Vote dates, motions and campaigns/project funding deadlines in advance each term for ALL students

Transparent decision-making processes from Impact Assessment through to motions being actioned, so students know how the SU is responding to our input and asks.

Increase student engagement with SU democracy by providing policy toolkits and easy-to-access resources on the SU webpage

Provide a tailored SU offering for International Students through specialised advice in our Advice Centre, a culture week and diverse club nights at the Copper Rooms

Review our complaints procedure to make it accessible for members of Societies and Sports Clubs.

Recognise ongoing student campaigns through a liberation and diversity associations structure which represents students, builds communities and funds campaigns on campus.
2. Tackle the Cost-of-Living Crisis

Embed the (Free) Breakfast Club and End Period Poverty campaigns as permanent provisions on campus, which all students can access.

Prioritise the SU becoming a Real Living Wage employer
-
Work with other SUs to lobby nationally for affordable housing strategies and for maintenance loans to rise in line with inflation.

Provide free workshops to help students develop skills such as cooking, budgeting, and sustainable practices.

Work to lock down the prices of essentials in SU and University outlets, including halal, vegan and kosher options.

Continue Anna’s Better Buses campaign, working with local district councils and bus companies to improve the efficiency and affordability of the buses.

Tackle the cost of sports and socialising by cutting Socs and Sports Federation Fees, lobbying the University to increase BUCS funding, and introducing both a non-BUCS pot and a club development pot to support sports clubs.
3. Helping students feel Safer at Warwick

Push for the University to adopt Safezone, an app that allows you to access emergency services such as community safety, first aid, and well-being

Continue working on lighting on paths between central campus and Gibbet Hill, Westwood, and more, with Estates and Community Safety

Call for the University to meet student demands around safety on campus (for example, providing personal safety alarms and blinds in on-campus accommodation)

Provide a late-night taxi service from campus to Coventry and lobby for the return of the West Midlands On-Demand Bus Service towards Warwickshire.

Get SU outlets (T-Bar and Copper Rooms) certified as Safe Places by the Egalitarian Project.

Ensure that we have a permanent welfare stand (providing free pregnancy tests, drink covers, contraceptives, etc;) at the Copper Rooms manned by paid student staff
4. Focus on Student Wellbeing

Lobby Wellbeing to hire multilingual advisors and run cultural awareness training to better cater to International students.

Lobby for the introduction of different types of therapy (apart from CBT) into the Wellbeing service, as well as a 24/7 mental health nurse to support students in emergencies.

Introduce workshops on tackling imposter syndrome to help students adapt to University life and academic burnout.

Work towards a long-term model of support for victims of sexual harassment and assault with Wellbeing, the Sexual and Domestic Abuse Advisor and the SU Advice Centre

Work on suicidal awareness and support students struggling with their mental health through a campaign focused on Helping a Mate.

Call for buildings to be more accessible to students with physical disabilities and make sure that curbs are dropped for wheelchair accessibility around campus.
5. Your Education, Your Choice

Push for self-certifications across the board

Advocate for more quiet study spaces and private meeting rooms that are accessible to all.

Lobby for earlier releases of teaching and exam timetables

Call for departments to offer varied assessment methods to enable students to choose the assessment methods to support student success.

Centralise all information related to timetables and assessment deadlines on the MyWarwick App across departments

Advance the ongoing efforts to release academic resources and reading lists earlier to help students prepare for the next academic year
