Volleyball Sports Club

The University of Warwick Volleyball Club prides itself on being one of the most international clubs on campus, open to everyone and catering all skillsets, from complete beginners to advanced competitive players.

TEAMS

The club is divided into three tiers of competition and commitment level, with a total of 6 teams competing either in the British University & College Sport league (BUCS) or within the regional West Midlands Volleyball Association league (WMVA):

BUCS Teams:

  • Men's 1st, Women's 1st: Two 1.5 hour long court trainings, one 1.5 hour long fitness session, one supervised and one unsupervised hour long gym session per week
  • Men's 2nd, Women's 2nd: One 1.5 hour long court training per week

Generally, all BUCS teams have almost one game a week. These games occur every Wednesday, and take place either at home or away depending on the schedule.

Due to BUCS rules and regulations BUCS teams are only open to full time students (both undergraduate and postgraduate).

WMVA Teams:

  • Men's WMVA, Women's WMVA: One hour long court training per week

Generally, both WMVA teams have almost one game a week. These games usually occur on the weekend, making WMVA the ideal team for those who are unavailable on Wednesdays. Again these games take place either at home or away depending on the schedule.

Unlike our BUCS teams, both our WMVA teams welcome staff and students alike.

Beach Volleyball:

At the end of the regular court season, UWVC offers a transition to beach Volleyball in Term 3, with the end goal of BUCS beach league and the Beach Cup tournament. Whilst the organisation of beach varies yearly, it typically includes specialised beach oriented court and fitness training.

PERFORMANCE SPORT

UWVC is a silver tiered Performance Sport at Warwick, which means that at the highest level of play at the University, we have access to all the best resources to keep our players in top shape. These include - in addition to regular on-court training - specialised strength and conditioning coaches (gym and fitness), injury prevention sessions, sports nutrition advice and physiotherapy

OPEN PLAY

Outside of regular competitive teams, UWVC offers a weekly Rock-Up and Play session for anyone to sign up to.

On top of this the club also runs a weekly Sunday League perfect for a bit of friendly competition. Both pre-organised teams and individuals are welcome - simply get in touch with us and we will get you signed up!

BEYOND THE TEAMS

Outside of the volleyball court, the club regularly hold a variety of events, from movie nights to Wednesday POP! (a warwick institution), sauna sessions, club nights, laser tag or kareoke, for any and all to come socialise, relax, meet new people and bring together the entire UWVC family. Our socials are open to everyone, so if you are interested in getting involved please get in touch with us - we'd love to have you!

And of course we can't forget the club's annual international beach tour - a highlight for many of our members. Easter tour lets our members spend a week in one of Europe's finest, sunniest beaches to play some volleyball and catch some rays!

As a club we are committed to our charitable innitiatives and host/take part in a variety of charity events, tournaments and competitions.
