About Our Club
TaeKwon-Do is a Korean martial art, famous for its dynamic kicks and wide variety of training techniques. We are a friendly and passionate club, open to everyone! Potential members who have practised TaeKwon-Do should know that we welcome both ITF and WT styles, and indeed train in both. With a lively social scene, regular competitions, and a broad range of seminars, our club has something to offer casual members and experienced competitors alike. So whether you simply want to feel safer on nights out or push to win medals, come check us out!

Session Times
Our sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays are held at Westwood Games Hall and Thursdays are in the Multi-purpose room in the Sports and Wellness hub. See our session times for this year below:

Our Instructors
ITF - Mark Fitton, Matthew Snape, Matty Stockton
Mark , 5th Degree Black Belt, runs our ITF sessions on Thursdays. He has over 30 years of experience in Taekwondo. Mark's Taekwondo career was predominantly governed by his time in the RAF where he regularly competed in numerous national and international competitions as part of the RAF and Armed Forces Taekwondo teams, gaining Service Colours at both levels. Mark is also the chief instructor at Balsall Common Taekwondo club. Mark’s particular interest in martial arts is understanding the technical nature of the art and applying this to his main passion of teaching self-defence.
Matthew, 2nd Degree Black Belt, takes the ITF sessions on a Tuesday. He is studying for his PhD in physics and is in his third year. He started Tae Kwon-Do at 14 years old, and received his 1st degree when he was 18 during his first year of undergraduate at the University of Liverpool. He trained with the club at Liverpool and was their treasurer and president. He now trains at Warwick and is the current treasurer.
Matty, 3rd Degree Black Belt, is our Captain and runs our Saturday Squad sessions. He has been doing Taekwondo for 12 years and he is a member of the England team and multi-european medallist specialising in sparring. Matty is a multi-time national champion and trains under Mr Carl Davis who is multi-European champion and world medallist. Outside of Taekwondo, he is a 2nd year degree apprentice on the APEP – manufacturing course.
WT - Chenson Hope-Simes and Nicola Rosetti
Chenson, 4th Degree Black Belt, is a 4th Year Engineer with 14 year of experience in WT Taekwon-do. He has competed to a national level at WT Poomsae and is qualified to examine WT gradings. Nicola, 2nd Degree Black Belt, is a 2nd Year PhD maths student who started off in ballet before switching to martial arts. He has been doing Taekwon-do for 6 years now having competed at a National level in both poomsae and sparring (in Italy). Nicola and Chenson run our Monday and Wednesday WT sessions with a variety of kicking drills, technical poomsae and sparring.
Competitions
Our club attends a variety of official competitions throughout the year. We have a dedicated Squad session on a Saturday for all those looking to compete at a high level. You can compete in patterns, sparring, breaking and special technique. We attend ITF and WT competitions. Notable competitions include BUCS, BUTL, TSTUK Interclub and ITFU championships.
Gradings
We offer internal gradings in both ITF and WT styles every term. So come along and work your way up from white belt to black belt.
Seminars
We also offer several seminars throughout the year with some very special guests. There are opportunies to further your knowledge in self-defense, Bo Staffs and cool kicks. We also run joint training sessions with other University clubs.
Socials
Outside of training, our social secs also host several socials and events throughout the year - both sober and non-sober. Some events we've done in the past and plan to do this year are:

- Games and movie nights
- Club Meals
- Annual international and domestic tours
Charity
We are supporting Young Minds this year. Over the course we will run several events to raise money. We do an annual 12 hour Taekwondo session, pub quizzes and kickathon
