Welcome to Warwick University Snooker and Billiards Club, or WUSBC! One of the most successful sports clubs on campus, we are a friendly and welcoming club that caters for players of all ability. We run regular Wednesday sessions, tournaments, events, competitions and compete in inter-university snooker tournaments including the infamous four-day BUCS National Championships where WUSBC claimed the tiltle in 2019.
The Snooker Room
We have two full sized snooker tables on campus in our snooker room, and we are located in the SU building just above The Dirty Duck. You can use the room to play or practice any day of the week during term time (opening times listed below) - you can just turn up, or if you would prefer to ensure that you have priority, feel free to book in advance! We have some great quality in-house snooker cues which you can use, although many members end up buying their own cues - what you do is entirely your choice!
You must be a member to access the room since there is a card access lock on the door. You can gain access by simply touching your University ID card to the keypad next to the door. Note that it will take up to 2-3 working days after you join for your card to work with our system. If it takes any longer than this, get in touch and we’ll help you out!
The room can be accessed either via the Whitefield staircase as shown by the image below, or through the Dirty Duck after 12:00 during term time, where you go through the double doors and up the stairs (if you're unsure, just ask someone!). The video below shows you the two main ways to access the room.

Events
Throughout the year, we will hold lots of fun events open to all members! We are one of the most relaxed clubs on campus, and if you are just looking to broaden your horizons or have a casual game, that is okay too! On the other hand, if you prefer to play more competitively, we cater for that too with our Internal tournaments, Term 2 league, Inter-Unversity tournaments, and Prediction Competitions, all with prizes to be won!
Our first event of the year will be our Fresher's Week taster sessions, running on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th September (times are to TBC, but follow our Instagram to stay posted!), and a Snooker Room Open Day on Friday 26th September!
Feel free to drop into the room whenever you're free, or come to one of our Wednesday sessions for more a more structured afternoon!
Wednesday Sessions
We will run weekly Wednesday sessions for members during Terms 1 and 2 from 14:30 till late each week! Sessions will vary each week and will include practice sessions, tournaments, and team training (during term 2)!
Feel free to sign up and come along!
Internal Competitions
For those of you who love the competitive spirit, WUSBC will push you to always go for gold, and our internal competitions will be open for all members to enter, with prizes on offer!
In term 1, we'll break off with our annual Fresher's Cup, with the Six-reds Championship and the Christmas Cup to follow later on. During term 2, we will hold a league which will run throughout the term, as well as two knockout tournaments: the Handicap Cup and the Warwick Masters.
Inter-University Tournaments & Trials
In term 2, we will have two inter-university competitions - The Midlands Cup and BUCS, both of which include both individual and team competitions! The Midlands Cup is two-day event held around February, with Warwick being the proud hosts! This is followed by BUCS, usually in March, which is a four-day event full of unforgettable moments, promising drama, heartache, and glory!
Trials to join one of our two teams will take place at the start of term 2 before Midlands, with team training to follow from then on until BUCS. Don't worry if you don't make the initial teams for Midlands, as you will have another chance to trial again before BUCS!
Maintenance Fee (If needed)
To maintain the current standard of our two tables on campus, WUSBC are implementing a maintenance fee of £5-£10 for all members of the club. This money will go towards the necessary maintenance each table requires each year, which is either a re-cloth or re-stretch (per year this usually costs us around £700).
Fortunately, we currently expect this fee not to be needed during the 25/26 academic year!
