The University of Warwick Men's Cricket Club is the largest on-campus club, representing over 150 members worldwide. All members engage in weekly training sessions, ensuring we prepare intensely for the BUCS season in the summer. Comprising some of the finest talent in the UK, UWMCC boasts international cricketers who have taken part in the U19 World Cup, along with numerous CAG Cricketers, a few who have gone on to play at the Bunbury and Super 4 Festivals. Our teams play off-campus at state-of-the-art Club Cricket grounds, including Birmingham and Warwickshire Premier Division clubs like Kenilworth Wardens.
UWMCC is a prestigious club that boasts an impressive touring heritage, including trips to Sri Lanka and South Africa alongside plans to go to Desert Springs for the 2024-25 academic year. We consistently hit over 175 members yearly, and provide a thriving social scene, whilst also engaging in high-quality cricket. We have 4 BUCS teams, a Development XI and an indoor BUCS team in the winter. The club were also the National BUCS Indoor Cricket Champions in 2016. Our 1st XI play in the Midlands Division 2B, aiming for promotion to Division 1 next year. We pride ourselves on being an extremely friendly club, irrespective of playing ability. All new members are welcome, even those who have never played before. Joining UWMCC will become one of the best parts of your university experience. We cater for all, whether you want to play the highest level of cricket, or are more into the social and friendly side of the game.
To join our club:
Trials will begin at the start of Term 1 aiming to test all facets of cricket, with the sign-up form being made available via our social media channels and will open a week before Freshers week. We understand that a single trial is an unfair way of assessing cricketing ability, and so we have introduced a 3 trial system, whereby you will have 3 opportunities to showcase your talent. We are an inclusive sports club, and there is space for everyone, so we encourage anyone to trial, regardless of ability! Following the 3 rounds of trials, new members will be assigned to either one of 5 teams at UWMCC and will begin training straight after.
A little more about the club:
UWMCC prides itself on its ability to balance all aspects of the University. We have a weekly social (Circle) in the Copper Rooms which is a great chance to get to know other UWMCC members and bond beyond training. We were incredibly proud to have received the Community and Fundraising Award for 2024 at the Sports Ball Awards. This combined a year of hard work, and we managed to raise a combined £10,338 for over 4 charities.
