Introduction
Warwick Think Tank (WTT) is the largest and most dynamic student-led think tank on campus. We are dedicated to empowering students to take part in meaningful public debate, influence policy, and connect with leaders across the fields of government, academia, consulting, and the third sector.
Through our publications, events, and professional networks, we help students not only develop their voice but also prepare for impactful careers in policy and beyond.
Our Mission:
-
To amplify student voices in policymaking by giving students the tools, platforms, and mentorship to produce rigorous, original policy work that engages real-world challenges.
-
To connect students with the professional policy world, bridging the gap between academic learning and the skills needed for public leadership and problem-solving in their future careers.
Our Policy Sectors
WTT’s work is organised across nine core policy areas. Each reflects a key global challenge and is supported by a dedicated student research team:
-
Foreign Affairs
-
Healthcare
-
Education
-
Technology, AI & Data Governance
-
Environment & Energy
-
Justice & Human Rights
-
Economy & Finance
-
Democracy & Governance
-
Culture, Media and Society
These sectors shape the themes of our research reports, editorial output, podcast topics, and events throughout the academic year.
Research Output
Each of our nine research teams produces a comprehensive, original policy report during the academic year. These reports are based on both independent analysis and public engagement — including interviews, student roundtables, and expert panels.
Reports are published in Term 3 and presented publicly at our Annual Report Launch, where students showcase their findings to peers.
Editorial and Publications
Our editorial branch publishes four themed policy magazines each year, containing a mix of:
-
Policy articles by our student Policy Analysts
-
Guest essays from professors and professionals
-
Letters and commentary from the wider Warwick community
Each magazine explores a unifying theme across all nine sectors. We also produce a student-led podcast focused on contemporary policy issues and personal insights from our research contributors.
Events and Panels
The WTT Events Team organises a packed calendar of speaker panels, career talks, and workshops, giving students the opportunity to engage with professionals from across the policy ecosystem.
Get Involved
Whether you want to write, research, publish, or organise events, WTT offers opportunities for students from all academic backgrounds. We support students at every stage — from first-years exploring public affairs for the first time, to finalists preparing for policy careers.
