The Warwick Africa Summit is a student-organised and led interdisciplinary conference focused on the development of the African continent.
The summit presents a platform for all to address the different challenges faced by the continent through the multi-disciplinary keynote speeches and panels. Our speakers range from politicians, bankers, entrepreneurs and activists to philanthropists who have dedicated their lives to unlocking the continent’s true potential. Speakers in past events have included Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of Nigeria, Nigerian singer songwriter Mr Eazi, Aliko Dangote and Isabelle De Santos respectively the richest man and woman in Africa, and Amina Muhammed (Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations).
We aim to generate engagement, innovation, and collaboration between students, academics, and practitioners as well as raise awareness of a continent, which is not always understood.
The theme of the 2025 Warwick Africa Summit draws inspiration from the Igbo proverb “Ora weputara onwe ya” - “The ora singles itself out”. This powerful metaphor speaks to the core of our theme: self-determination, agency and the power of a generation to forge its own narrative and identity. We believe there is no single way to be African. Whether born on the continent or in the diaspora, claiming your African identity makes you part of this story.
We're looking forward to this upcoming year, as we plan to collaborate with your favourite societies and host several engaging events leading up to our Summit in Term 2!
