Last term we announced that the winners of our Social Enterprise Project were Viva La Yog! (who'll be selling their frozen yoghurt in the Indoor Market on Fridays) and Backer Adventures. If you'd like to find out more about what the two projects have been up to this term or how you can get funding for your own social enterprise project, then come along to our Celebration Event at 6pm on Thursday in SUHQ Meething Room 4/5. Refreshments will be provided!

Warwick Active Presents Where's Wally

On Wednesday 8th May at 4pm teams will be competing across campus to find Wally and completing sporting challenges along the way! £10/team of 6 or £2/individual sign up online as there are prizes for the fastest team, highest points, wooden spoon and best fancy dressed!

Warwick Active Running Grid Challenge

We will be launching Warwick Active Running during Term 3 with the 'Warwick Active Running Grid Challenge'. This event is a 2-week challenge that will take place from the Monday 6th - Monday 20th May 2013. The Challenge will see all levels of abilities pit themselves against each other to walk, jog and run their way to becoming Warwick Active. The Challenge aims to create some friendly rivalry and challenge people to get themselves active in some shape or form. Whether you regularly clock up a couple miles or are completely new to running; take a break from exam and study stress to get outside and moving. We have some great prizes to reward your motivation.

Sports Ball

The 2013 'Optiver' Sports Ball is being held on Friday 21st June at the Hilton, Birmingham Metropole and tickets go on sale this Friday at 12pm.

Running from 12-3pm in the Atrium on Thursday 2nd May, Kick is a student-run event which showcases the "alternative" options that you don't see at the traditional University-led careers fairs. Whether you are looking for an internship, graduate career or wanting to start your own business, Kick is the place to be! You'll talk to growing startups and the founders behind them, as well as respected incubators who are creating the next big entrepreneurs. Even if you are not looking for a job, come along still and have a wander - you might be inspired, and will definitely leave with a pocketful of business cards!

Recently there has been an increase of reported incidents where international students have been targeted as victims of telephone fraud from someone claiming to be from UK Border Agency.

If you are contacted by someone claiming to be from UKBA instructing you to pay money and threatening deportation if you don’t pay, you should not pay any money or give any personal details to them.

Find out more on our website.

The Students' Union are hiring with the added benefit that working for the Students’ Union is easily the best job to do alongside your studies. That’s because most of our key operating times are during the undergraduate term, so you won’t be expected to work during the vacation periods, however some shifts may be available in specific outlets if you are around during vacation. On top of that, because we're the Students' Union, we completely understand that students want flexible working hours. If you need a week or two off to finish your dissertation, or have an important deadline, managers will do their best to accommodate those needs. A final bonus is that you'll be working alongside other students who you'll have lots in common with and are likely to make a lot of new friends.

So what more reasons do you need to apply? There are a handful of different positions available – please refer to our website for full details and the application deadlines for each one warwicksu.com/jobs.

A Careers Beyond Academia day will take on Wednesday 8 May 9.15 - 4.00pm in the Wolfson Research Exchange. This is for PhD students who are keen to explore how to market themselves for employment possibilities beyond academia. There will be practical sessions on making applications and interviews and two former Warwick PhD students will talk about their transition from study into employment. Please register before Friday 3 May through your myAdvantage account.
