Greetings from your sabbatical team!

This week is BIG 5 week – our annual week of getting as much feedback and information as we can from our members – that's every single one of you! Click here to complete the survey online and be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes, such as tickets to our legendary summer party (the facebook page for which is available here!) or some sweet gear courtesy of Superdry.

Tonight is the General Meeting, rearranged from last week. It is at 7PM in MS.02. Come along to have your voice heard and cast your vote. More information on this is available on the facebook page. It's really important we get as many people to the meeting as possible – because of charity law a general meeting is our most powerful decision making body, meaning whatever decisions are made tonight can only be challenged at another general meeting!

Also, I’ve recently been working on improving the transparency of the SU finances, more detail of which can be found on my most recent blog post , including a complete breakdown of the Union's income and expenditure. I'll be following this work up with a value for money campaign in each of our outlets, showing cost comparisons to local competitors. Hopefully this will also put some pressure on the University to address their prices in some of their outlets. (The outlets owned and run by the SU are The Bread Oven, Curiositea, The Dirty Duck, Xananas, The Terrace Bar and The Copper Rooms, if you didn’t know. Everything else is either run by the University or a franchise.)

Hope you enjoyed the snow & have a brilliant week,

George, Izzy, Matt, Chris (x2), Leo, Sean

Thinking of running in the SU Officer Elections 2012?

Haven't even considered it? Well why not give it some thought and pop along to one of the Prospective Candidate Briefings this week – Part-Time positions – Thurs 9th Feb, 12noon, Central Meeting Room, SUHQ, Sabbatical Officers – Fri 10th Feb, 11am, Central Meeting Room, SUHQ. Nominations open THIS Friday! Want to find out more about the elections and find out why it all matters? Head to warwicksu.com/elections.

Hall Society Football

If you are a football fan or just fancy getting you and your flatmates involved in some sport then why not enter the Ernst & Young Hall Football League. It's aside mixed and can be entered online. Email Chris Sury if you have any questions!

Real Ale Festival

The middle of term 2 means only one thing – next week is the return of the annual Real Ale Festival. Run by the Real Ale Society, over 100 beers will be bedding into the Copper Rooms for the week, and should be ready to be drunk by Thursday evening! Be sure to get involved, and be sure to get down early doors – every year it fills within an hour or two of opening, and every year the beer runs dry before the end of the final night!

Global: International Night

This week sees your fortnightly dose of a foreign culture back in the Terrace Bar, as World at Warwick team up with the Vietnamese society to bring you week 5's Global. As ever, this event is FREE ENTRY – there’s nothing better to do with your Thursday night!
