Happy week 8 folks!
If you're anything like me, you'll be constantly irritated at the moment by the excessive amounts of Christmas-related happenings that are already encroaching on the nation. It's not December yet, people! Instead, let's focus on what's real and rad on campus right now: this week is Pride Week! A week very near and dear to my heart, it celebrates the LGBTUA+ and queer community on campus and raises awareness of the issues that continue to face this community nationally and around the world. Check out what's going on, break out some rainbow facepaint, and get involved! It's also National Interfaith Week so drop into the chaplaincy to see what's occurring.
In other equally exciting news, the SU's General Meeting is coming up. This is a hugely important meeting as any student can come and have their say on issues affecting them, so save the date! (29th November, 7pm) Important to note: if you want to submit motions you need to get them in by 4pm tomorrow (Tuesday). Email democracy@warwicksu.com with any questions – and don't forget to check out what happened at the last Union Council meeting.
Other dates for your diary: the second GUM clinic for all your sexual health needs is this Tuesday, 10-6 in Copper Rooms 2 – get there early if you want to be seen and check out this article for more information about where else you can get tested.
Finally, if you live in South Leamington and love a bit of local history, get yourself down to the Brunswick Healthy Living Centre on Wednesday evening between 6-7:30 to find out how to get involved in next year's Leamington Looks Back history festival.
As always, feel free to email any of your sabbatical officers or drop into SUHQ for a chat – we'd love to hear from you!
In Pride,
Izzy

Lord Rootes Memorial Fund: Drop in Session
The Lord Rootes Memorial Fund Committee will be holding a drop in session on Wednesday 30th November 2011, 4pm - 6pm in the Central Meeting Area in SUHQ. The Fund provides grants to Warwick students to support student projects, specifically projects that enhance personal development and are outside of the scope of their academic studies. Come along to chat to members of the committee if you're thinking of putting in an application to get some tips, or if you want so advice as to whether your project is eligible.
This is an example of one of the projects that have been completed with the Fund’s help, check it out!
The deadline for applications to the fund is 12th January 2012. More information, including the application process and eligibility criteria, can be found at warwick.ac.uk/go/lordrootes.
