Hello Postgrads!
Whether you’re new to Warwick or returning for another year we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the Autumn Elections to you all. As an ever growing proportion of Warwick students it’s vital that you are represented effectively in the Students’ Union and to the University. Many of our positions do not require a huge time commitment but give you a genuine chance to have your say and make a real difference.
Postgraduate Councillors
Union Council, a bit like a student parliament, meets 7 times a year to debate, amend and pass policy as well as hold your Officers to account. Council has genuine power to change things about your Students’ Union and decides how we lobby the University to make changes across campus. So if you’ve ever moaned about the Library or the price of core textbooks, have an issue with accommodation or don’t like something about your course then being a Union Councillor could be for you.
Postgraduate Forum
We’re looking for a Postgraduate Forum Co-ordinator to lead the work of the PG Forum during 2011/12. The Forum exists to make sure that the Students’ Union is relevant to Postgrads at Warwick – from our entertainment and outlets to how we communicate with PGs, the Forum does invaluable work and can improve the PG experience immensely.
Postgraduate Faculty Representatives
Focusing on the academic side of University life, Faculty Representatives (one each for Arts, Science and Social Science) sit on the Boards of their respective faculty as well as the Board of Graduate Studies. Working alongside SSLCs (Student-Staff Liaison Committees), Faculty Reps can use feedback to enact change in course structures and academic standards.
