Hello, and welcome to a new academic year at Warwick! We have a host of exciting campaigns coming up this year, led by your new full-time officer team. Responding to student feedback and research, these campaigns are a great way for our students to express themselves and make a difference on campus. If you have ideas, feedback or would like to get involved, don’t hesitate to contact me (Naomi) as your Welfare and Campaigns Officer!

A few of our active campaigns include:

  • Expanding the #EndPeriodPoverty scheme

Currently supplying over 30 buildings with free pads and tampons, this scheme looks to tackle period poverty whilst working to normalise discussions about periods and reducing menstrual stigma! We are looking for volunteers to help replenish bathrooms and provide ideas - see this page for more details.

  • Continuing acting for a Safer Warwick

Launched to tackle rape culture and student safety concerns on campus, the Safer Warwick campaign is working to improve lighting on campus, increase student confidence and address toxic drinking behaviours on campus. You can even participate in free weekly self-defence classes for women, run in collaboration with societies in the Sports Hub.

  • Bringing together student campaigns for Movember

Our sports clubs and societies do great work to raise money through growing moustaches every year - and this year we want to go further, partnering with Warwick Sport, the Arts Centre, and men’s health charities, to showcase just how much we can do when we work together! Watch this space…

  • Responding to student concerns about the cost-of-living crisis and bus provision

We will continue building on our cost-of-living survey of the last academic year to lobby for a student-first approach in transport, food and drink, and housing on campus. Our Better Busses campaign looks to directly address issues with local bus services.

  • And a whole host more! Engage with these campaigns on social media, or getting in touch at welfare@warwicksu.com
