British Universities Chess Championship (BUCA)

Date: February 23rd-24th, 2019

Location: Park Inn by Radisson Telford, TF3 4NA

Format: 

One Warwick team will play in each of the first 3 divisions (Championship, Plate, Bowl).  These teams will be allocated by grading order (within 10 ecf).  Each of the 4 members of the team will play 5 games, 60mins + 10 seconds per move, against other universities.  

The remaining teams will represent Warwick in the 4th division (Shield).  The time control will be 25mins + 10 seconds per move against other university teams.  There will be 10 games played per person. 

ECF Membership:

All players will need at least ECF bronze membership. Warwick Chess advise players to get ECF silver or above, so that they may compete in Warwick Rapidplay and/or Coventry Centenary Rapidplay (see emails and facebook page for details of these events).   Any entrants without ECF membership will be rejected.  See the link below for more details.

Transport:

Warwick Chess will be providing free transport to and from the venue.

Grading and Rating:

Teams and board orders will be determined by:

(1) January 2019 ECF Standard / Rapidplay Grade

(2) January 2019 FIDE Rapidplay Rating (converted using the formula: (FIDE – 700) / 7.5)

(3) Estimated grades assigned by Warwick Chess captains.
