ENAYA NIHAL

About me

Hello, everyone! My name's Enaya, and I'm running to be your women's officer :) I am a Second Year EPAIS student. I'm an Indian, born and raised in Saudi Arabia and I really enjoy boxing.

Why am I running?

As a woman of colour, I understand the systemic barriers and indirect forms of discrimination we face on a daily basis. If elected, I will do my best to enact positive change in the Student Union and beyond- including our campus and the broader Coventry area.

My Experience

Liaising with departmental heads for two years as an EPAIS Course representative has strengthened my negotiation skills and advocacy. Advancing my coursemates' concerns resulted in the use of more egalitarian language during lectures and the provision of better assistance/information to students about student wellbeing resources. Being the International Students' Officer in my Department has also contributed to my problem-solving and planning skills.

My Campaign Promises

I will passionately advocate for equity as Women's officer by:

1. Representing women and focusing on the most prominent issues we face (especially security),

2. Working with the Student Union and University to gain feedback from women and implement what resources will permit, and

3. Expanding and continuing the End Period Poverty Campaign to ensure that women on campus have access to free menstrual products, which can otherwise cost women thousands of pounds over a lifetime.

Thank you for reading my Manifesto and do email me if you would like to discuss anything or even for a chat!
